abonded senatorio - Not far from Porto lies a senate building that has been abandoned since the 1970s. This photo shows the end of an era, but the brightness of the light still offers a glimmer of hope that something new could emerge.

live in porto - Street life in Porto is closely associated with chaos, whether it be the traffic or the performances of street artists. The photo was taken vertically downwards from a bridge in Porto and shows a café on the left, a dancer performing in the centre and cars disregarding traffic rules on the right.

bullfight in the street - Bullfighting has a long tradition in the Azores. While the winters are dreary, the summer season is celebrated daily in a different street. It's a little different from what we're used to, because the locals need the adrenaline rush when the young bulls chase through the streets. The bull in the picture takes out its anger on a fire hydrant. Its saliva flies through the air, while the hand on the left radiates calm and the fingernails balance out the fire hydrant.

stairhouse in a volcano - On one of the Azores islands, there was this stairwell located in a volcanic vent that led to an underground lake. What makes this image special are the light temperatures: while it is tropically warm outside, it is cold and musty in the stairwell.
